THE BEST DEALS IN ST MAARTEN IS ONLINE SHOPPING

I did my little Christmas window shopping. Checking out the prices on computers and cameras, tablets etc. I realize the best deal is online. I don't know what they see us as in St Maarten, but I can't believe the crap that they're selling and the ridiculous prices. I can just go into stores and just call them out on their pricing scams. But what I'll do is boycott, and shop online...internationally.Save a couple hundred bucks, buy some new shoes.
It is simply not worth buying technology in St Maarten, most the crap is old, they clean it up and sell it as new, and get away with. So many people thought they were getting a new computer, were given an old one now they can't even change it, they certainly can't ask 4 their money back.
That's my review

IN ST MAARTEN YOUR INTERNET SERVICE WILL SUCK AND BE INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE photo judith roumou

Americans and Canadians who live in St Maarten call it "Strange Maarten" for a reason. They refer to locals and the government as "St Martians" or "Strange Martians". I agree with all those labels, and as a born St Martian, let me explain to phenomenom to you. There's a reason that one of my major online networks is called "Helen Paradise." People really believe that my name is Helen, but it' actually Judith. Helen Paradise was created because St Maarten CAN be HELL IN PARADISE when it comes to technology. I've ran into some tourist trying to go to the internet cafe to upload a 4gig HD video of their trip.
LOL!
Maybe if you've got a week to spend in the island, and still there are NO guarantees.
The only reason that St Maarten internet cafes do so well is because the Ship and Cabin service is worse.
In St Maarten they will ADVERTISE 4G capacity, KNOWING that they only have the capacity for 3G's. I've been waiting for St Maarten to upgrade its fiber optics system. To this day, I doubt that they've done it. If somebody in Government cannot make a profit of it, they will NEVER do it, no matter how much it improves the quality of life.
The St Maarten Government is run by a bunch of computer illiterates, who are PROUD to be computer illiterate. They believe the internet is some "fad" that will run its course pretty soon.
That's why they're being lambasted all over the internet, and can do nothing about it because they don't even know how to access and email (their assistants do it 4 them). The certainly don't know how they are being perceived world wide-and they don't care, because they don't have to get the world's vote, just the St Maarten resident vote.
When you get to the banks, and the civil servants offices, you will see that St Maarten is trapped in time.
You're gonna LOOOOVE St Maarten, until you have to go to ANY local or government business or establishment and deal with their dinosaur technology..... If they even have computers!
I would set up an online campaign to get The St Maarten Government to upgrade, and get with the times, but they would never see it. They're too busy reading "Queenie's" advice in the Herald, and reading their Horoscopes. I can't accuse them of doing the Crosswords or Sudokus, because it's obvious by our budget deficit, that our Government can't count, and it's even more obvious when they speak, that they DON'T speak English, so they certainly can't do the Crossword puzzles.
They have a little Tech section in the paper, giving you news that 3 or 4 years old, which is 3000-4000 years in internet years. Not once has this Daily Herald computer "Genius" explained why St Maarten is still in the Netherlands Antilles-4 YEARS after our country status changed. He's never clarified WHY we are still area code 5995, three years since it was changed to 721!!!
In Strange Maarten, it's cheaper to spend 10 minutes on the phone to Illinois, than it is to call Cole Bay. It's IMPOSSIBLE to call French St Martin, From Dutch St Maarten, talk about the Twilight Zone, I haven't called St Martin in 4 years!!!
St Maarten is 37 square miles, but when you get to the St Maarten/St Martin border your signal DIES!!I can call the USA easily, but nobody seems to understand the St Martin area code, even those who claim to understand it can't see to make calls to St Martin. And when it comes to "Strange Maarten" let's admit it the St Martin side can be as bad or worse than the Dutch St Maarten side. When you try to search St Martin online, they're somewhere in Guadeloupe!!!!
Huh!!!???
Yes, has their government worked that out yet??? I posted to St Martin Carnival videos, people in Poland emailing in confusion. MOST people on the internet think St Martin is some type of nickname for Martinique!! So I have to spend my time breaking down the Strange Martin phenomenom to strangers on the internet.
In St Maarten sometimes you wake up and there's a band marching by, sometimes there's someone digging a random trench around your yard. All blogs, photo, videos judith roumou

THE MUSIC MAN STORE IN MY OPINION IS THE WORST ELECTRONICS STORE IN ST MAARTEN

When you're not used to good service, Then the Music Man will do, other than that....go elsewhere.
The worst products, the worst service. And I base my opinion on dealing with them and other electronic stores in St Maarten. They remind me of Blockbuster in the USA, they dominated the market, so they had the worst shit service available. Where is Blockbuster now??? Right, they're obsolete. Other smarter people came along, and provided their customers with the service they deserved, and put Blockbuster outta business.

WHEN WILL THERE BE FREE COMPUTER CLASSES FUNDED BY THE GOVERNMENT IN ST MAARTEN?

St Maarten, I know is trapped in time when it comes to technology. We're still stuck in an era somewhere before 2010. When trying to register an email account or sign up for various social websites, many St Maarteners are being denied... Why?
Whoever is in charge of the internet in St Maarten, has not done their job. Now that's only IF our government actually has an IT department for St Maarten.
When you try to register an email, country St Maarten DOESN'T exist, we are still very much the Netherlands Antilles online, so that's who we are to the rest of the world, and obsolete nation, that no longer exist. Many St Maarteners cannot set up accounts, because online and to the world we still use a 5995 area code. And although WE'VE been told about these changes, the rest of the world obviously does not know. Many people in St Maarten cannot even set up a PAGE because a telephone number is required, and when you put in 721...they will tell you that you are wrong, and give you the 5995 code, which makes set up impossible.
My other issue with the St Maarten government is that I don't see them offering any computer assistance or free courses to St Maarteners willing to learn. In fact MOST in government are PROUD to NOT know how to use a computer. How many Parliamentarians and Ministers have I spoken to that can't Google search? They don't have an email, because they don't know how to open one, and many people in government are scared to death of the computer and technology, and they are very PROUD to say so.
It's easy to fear the unknown, so why not research this 'unknown' to figure out what your fears are about? Our government doesn't realize that being proud to not know the computer, is like being proud to be in government while illiterate.
And I see that not only is our government not interested in learning about the latest in technology in order to advance along with the rest of the world,
they are doing NOTHING to educate their people about the computer.
How much MONEY did the government spend on TEMPO?
How much money has our government spend to educate its people on the computer.
Even Africa is ahead of St Maarten when it comes to the people online skills.
Occassionally you'll see an advertisement for some ridiculous high price class, but the brains in government to put together a plan to educate their people when it comes to the world of the computer.
I will ask at Parliament about courses etc, but our government is soooo computer illiterate, I just know that this will be a frustrating conversation.

TESTING OUT NEW CAMERA AND EQUIPMENT HEADED DOWN TO DIVI LITTLE BAY. QUALITY IS OBVIOUSLY BETTER

Testing out the Sony quality, a lot better than the JVC, but the JVC is three years old. The Sony is perfect for blogging, because the JVC was light, but didn't have the resolution, the Nikon is heavy, but not practical for every day uploading, because it takes up gigs of space. I'm supposed to got to Blue Point today, to look at laptops. I got my Samsung there, but I'm honestly looking for better options.

CHECK OUT THIS SWEET SONY THAT I BOUGHT FOR A SWEET DEAL AT THE CAMERA CENTER 93 FRONSTREET SXM

I had to get a new digital camera yesterday, the JVC that I got at the Music Man Store has been through a lot so it was time to retire it for a new Sony.I usually shoot both pictures and videos at the same time, So I needed something small, and could easily fit into my left hand. So I switched from JVC to SONY, and I posted pictures of both cameras, so that you can see the quality in the Sony's resolution. I am still very sentimentaly attached to my JVC, but it has been banged up, so now it's temperamental. I don't even pretend to be a camera expert. I have about 7 cameras, I have a brand new Nikon, which I got at Boolchands, but it's not practical for every did photos, it's way to heavy to I had to get something that was high quality, but wouldn't use gigs of space each time like the Nikon does.

THE MUSIC MAN STORE OR KLASS ELECTRONICS? KLASS ELECTRONICS WON HANDS DOWN.

This was fun, Theresa had to buy a large screen 40 inch tv, but she wasn't just looking for a good price, she also wants good customer service. When you're a female shopping for electronics in st maarten, they can really try to shaft you, if you don't know electronics. So we went to The Music Man store, and they said that they didn't have the model that she wanted, so they would have it in the store, and call us. Big Lie, big lost. And the service was pretty half-assed, I guess they weren't expecting her to buy anything. We went to Klass Electronics, and she was treated very well by the salesman, he even had the 40 inch tv packaged and shipped to statia. Music Man could have started off the they with some great commissions, but they're too busy getting over excited about tourist, who wouldn't spend a dime in their store, they just checking out the prices, to order online. We locals actually buy. And I got a couple of raw deals at the Music Man store, so on Saturday when I bought my new Sony Camera, I got it at the Camera Center. But that's my next blog
